Key takeaways
This article in a few bites
Your own ordering page removes the platform commission of 15 to 30% and gives you the customer data.
Switching delivery apps swaps one commission for another. The choice that matters is between a platform and your own channel.
Of the four, only SOUS puts your details on 30+ platforms and in AI search engines, through SOUS Spotlight in SOUS Commerce Launch.
Delivery apps like Uber Eats bring you guests who would never have found you otherwise, and they charge for it on every order: typically 15 to 30%, depending on the platform and on who does the delivery. The customer data stays with the platform. You don't find out who ordered, and you can't reach that guest directly next time.
The alternatives come in two kinds: another platform, or an ordering channel of your own. Move to another platform and you swap one commission model for another. Take orders on your own channel and the platform commission is gone.
Overview:
Alternative | Type | Platform commission | Key difference |
|---|---|---|---|
SOUS Commerce | Own ordering page | None | AI visibility on 30+ platforms (SOUS Commerce Launch) |
FoodAmigos | Own ordering system | None | Website builder included (German market) |
DISH by METRO | Ordering system | None | METRO network behind it |
Another delivery app | Platform | 15 to 30% | Second platform, not your own channel |
SOUS Commerce: your own ordering page with AI visibility
SOUS Commerce gives you your own ordering page that runs as a standalone online shop or embedded in your existing website. Orders that come through it carry no platform commission. SOUS charges a service fee instead: from 1% on pickup and from 3% on delivery through the SOUS system, against 15 to 30% on the big delivery platforms.
Where SOUS Commerce differs from a plain ordering system is visibility. SOUS Spotlight puts your menu, opening hours and photos on more than 30 platforms and into AI answers from Google, ChatGPT and Siri. New guests find you where they search, and the ones who come back order directly through your own channel.
On every direct order, the customer data belongs to you: name, email address and order history. You decide who carries the delivery cost, and if you need delivery, SOUS connects you with a reliable delivery partner. More than 1,000 restaurants already work with SOUS.
Pricing: SOUS Commerce Starter from EUR 29 per month on an annual contract (EUR 49 on a flexible monthly contract). SOUS Commerce Launch from EUR 159 per month on an annual contract (EUR 199 flexible), including SOUS Spotlight.
Best for: restaurants that want their own ordering channel next to the delivery apps, and want to be easier to find in search engines, AI answers and on delivery platforms.
FoodAmigos: ordering system without commission (German market)
FoodAmigos (foodamigos.io) is a German all-in-one ordering system for restaurants. It charges a fixed monthly fee with no commission per order, and you can cancel monthly.
Features include a website builder, an ordering system for pickup and delivery, QR ordering, a loyalty programme and automated email marketing. FoodAmigos offers its own delivery partners at a fixed delivery price when needed. According to the company, 4,000 restaurants use the platform.
FoodAmigos does not publish exact pricing on its website. You can request a quote through the price calculator or a consultation at foodamigos.io.
Best for: restaurants that want their website, ordering system and marketing from one provider, without needing technical know-how. FoodAmigos does not offer AI visibility and does not automatically distribute your data to delivery apps and voice assistants. Note that FoodAmigos currently operates primarily in the German market.
DISH by METRO: ordering system with the METRO network
DISH by METRO (dish.co) is METRO’s digital suite for the hospitality industry. Its biggest advantage is METRO itself: many kitchens already buy from METRO, so the name is familiar and the reach is already there. Website, ordering system and reservations run through one platform that, according to DISH, serves 330,000 restaurants in 16 countries.
DISH charges no commission per order. For online payments, a transaction fee of 1.89% applies. Monthly fees depend on the package and contract length.
Pricing:
Package | Setup fee | Monthly from |
|---|---|---|
DISH Starter (website, digital menu) | EUR 99 | EUR 0 |
DISH Professional Order (incl. ordering system) | EUR 299 | EUR 49 (three-year contract) |
DISH Premium (website, ordering, reservations) | EUR 279 | EUR 79 (three-year contract) |
On a shorter contract, the monthly fee rises: DISH Professional Order costs EUR 59 per month on 12 months and EUR 64 per month on 3 months.
Best for: restaurants that already use METRO as a supplier and want to bundle website, ordering and reservations in one environment. DISH does not offer AI visibility and does not distribute your information to external platforms.
Switching to another delivery app: the commission stays
Joining a second delivery platform alongside your current one means reaching different guests while still paying commission on every order. Commission rates on major platforms vary, but typically range from 15 to 30% depending on the delivery arrangement. The exact terms are negotiated individually.
A second delivery app can make sense as an additional channel next to your existing platforms and alongside your own ordering page. As a replacement for your current platform, it solves nothing: you still depend on someone else’s marketplace, pay commission on every order and have no access to your customer data.

What matters when choosing?
Put every option through these five points before you sign:
Customer data. Whoever holds the customer data decides whether a returning guest orders directly from you next time. On every platform order, that data stays with the platform operator.
Visibility. Your own ordering page won't bring in guests by itself. Check whether the system helps you get found on Google, in AI answers and on delivery apps, or whether you need to organise that yourself.
Cost per order. Don't just compare the monthly fee. Work it out over 100 orders: commission, service fee, transaction costs and delivery costs together.
Contract length. A three-year contract is cheaper per month, but it ties you in for three years. Check whether you can start on a shorter or flexible monthly contract.
Delivery. Find out before you sign how delivery works: your own drivers, an external delivery partner, or pickup only. Delivery can cost you more margin than the software does.
Frequently asked questions about delivery app alternatives
Do I need to cancel my delivery app if I set up my own ordering page?
No. Your own ordering page runs alongside the delivery apps. The platforms keep bringing you new guests, and you gradually direct returning guests to your own channel.
How much does a delivery app charge per order?
Typically 15 to 30%, depending on the platform and whether they provide the delivery driver. Most platforms do not publish a fixed rate list.
Do I get the customer data with my own ordering page?
Yes. With SOUS Commerce, the name, email address and order history belong to you. On a platform order, that data stays with the platform operator.
Do I need my own website for an ordering system?
No. SOUS Commerce can be embedded in your existing website or run as a standalone online shop. FoodAmigos and DISH also offer a website builder.
